Paris Tours

June 20, 2024

After the Chartres concert we returned to our Paris hotel. I think that is the night I had a sundae at McDonald’s for supper. Then on Thursday morning our bus took us on a 3-hour guided sight-seeing tour of Paris. Here are some of the pictures I took from the bus. If you've taken pictures out of bus or train windows, you know that reflections in the windows can spoil the images. I was able to edit out some of the reflections in these pictures, but not all. So please excuse them.

In many pictures you will see preparations for the Olympics. You will also see the Seine and bridges that cross it. The Eiffel Tower is visible from many directions, but I haven't bothered to include all the pictures of it that I took.

The Grand Palais will host the fencing and taekwondo events.

They have set up the bridge Pont Alexandre III to host Olympic events.

This is my only shot of the pyramid that is the main entrance to the Louvre.

The Lourve itself is an imposing building. I visited it in 1993. Several pictures show views of it.

I think this is a somewhat iconic shot of Paris.

I think this means "House of Agricultural Engineers," so maybe it houses students in that field and/or classrooms.

The National Assembly

As we walked down the street looking for a place for lunch, we could view the Eiffel Tower from a side street.

Of course at some point in Paris, you want to eat at a sidewalk café. We chose Emily.

I had Beef Bourguignonne and Don had a pasta dish.

For dessert I had crème brûlée, and Don had cheesecake.

We had been seated where you see the two empty chairs. We then browsed at the souvenir shop.

The Olympic Rings are added to the Seine side of the Eiffel Tower.

After lunch, we walked back down to the boat dock for our cruise tour on the Seine.
