Williamsburg, VA, December 7–8, 2010

My fifth and next-to-last train trip of the last half of 2010 was to Williamsburg, VA. I had not been there in some years, and I had never been there during December. When I was planning the trip to Philadelphia, I discovered that I could make easy connections in Richmond to catch trains to and from Williamsburg. I was planning late enough that the only rooms left during the Grand Illumination weekend were very expensive. So I rode up on the Monday afterward and spent two days sightseeting and then rode back on Thursday. On Tuesday my Davidson classmate Ted Winter drove down from Rickmond and joined me for the day. On Wednesday I was joined by Peter Guerrant, a classmate who lives in Alexandria. On Thursday I had enough time between trains in Richmond that Ted and Mary Jane Winter picked me up at the station, and we went out for lunch. Here are some of the pictures I took on the trip.
