Paul and Ruth Lee were married on June 29, 1941, in Gaffney, South Carolina. The cermony was conducted by Judge Cobb at his home. The picture above was taken in 1991 near the time of their fiftieth anniversary. At that time, Mrs. Cobb still lived in the home. She had been a witness to the wedding.

The couple made their home with Ruth's parents at 1134 Buffalo Street in Shelby. The US entered World War II later that year, and Paul enlisted in the Marines in 1942.

Update on June 29, 2016:
Today is their seventy-fifth anniversary. Paul died on March 2, 2008, a few weeks before his eighty-eighth birthday, so they were married over sixty-six years. Ruth died on November 26, 2013, at the age of ninety-two. Pictures from her ninetieth birthday party can be seen here.
