Strandby and the northern tip of Denmark

June 22, 2019

After our visit to Skagen, we headed on out to the very tip of Denmark. If you look on the map, you can see that the very northern end of Jutland above Skagen narrows down to a point. There part of the North Sea meets part of the Baltic Sea. In the picture of the unidentified woman, you can see where the waves clash from both directions. Below that is a shot of some of our group. The picture below that shows a little different angle. To get out to the point from the parking area, you ride the Sandworm.

When we arrived back at the church, they had a cookout for our supper. Along with chicken and fish, they grilled tiny lobsters on skewers. Afterwards, it was still just 7:30, so there were many hours of daylight left. We were taken on a walking tour of the town. First we went to the harbor where there are sailboats and where the fish are brought in.

For the crab races, each crab is placed in a compartment on the left, and then the gates are opened.
The crabs race (?) out to the end of the tracks and fall into the water.

This fish merchant business is run by Peer. It was started by Susanne's father.

These are like little holiday homes on the beach, I think.

The wood was piled here by the Lutheran scout troop for the Sunday night festivities.
The Methodist scouts also had a bonfire in a different part of the beach. We were part of that celebration.
