Independence Pass and I-70

October 1, 2016

The wildest and wooliest drive we did was up to Independece Pass. We were pleased to find that the road was open, so we wound our way up to it and back down. Then we did a brief driving tour of Aspen.

From Aspen we headed north to reach I-70. Torrey wanted to head east before we drove west to see how the many-years-long highway construction had turned out. It appears to have been an engineering marvel with tunnels, a viaduct, and even a viaduct through a tunnel.

It was a scenic way to end my sixties. We headed for Grand Junction, where I would awaken in my new decade.
