Ketchikan, June 1, 2002

After Glacier Bay we headed back south and stopped at Ketchikan as our last port before returning to Vancouver. It was rainy in the morning, so we did limited sightseeing. We headed back to the ship for lunch. The height of the ship made a good vantage point for taking pictures of the town. As I recall I headed back out alone after lunch. Maybe Mike took a nap. I think we crossed paths later in the day. The weather had improved in the meantime.

I headed across town to the Totem Heritage Center.

That looks like a neat tour vehicle. Of course it reminds me of Charles Shackleford who was quoted as saying after an NC State basketball game, "I can shoot with my left hand. I can shoot with my right hand. I'm amphibious."

I don't know whether that is an alligator or a dinosaur. I would expect them to be equally common in Alaska these days.

These poles would have been painted. The color on old totem poles does not last long.
